How to Win the Struggle With Disinformation? ? – grant panel announcement

News

As a result of the emergence of new electronic media, disinformation and fake news have become a huge problem that democratic regimes around the world have to face. On the one hand, it is an important part of democracy to ensure freedom of speech, while on the other hand, disinformation, which often becomes difficult to distinguish from the truth, has turned into a tool of hybrid warfare. What lessons can be learned from the experience with disinformation in the context of the war in Ukraine? What are the tools for fighting fake news in a democratic society? Can we win the struggle with disinformation?

Those issues will be raised by the participants of the discussion panel entitled How to win the fight against disinformation?, which will take place as part of the 32 Economic Forum in Karpacz:

Mari Velsand, Director General, The Norwegian Media Authority, Norway
Tornike Baratashvili, Executive Director, “Europe is Our Home”, Georgia
Piotr Mieczkowski, Managing Director, Digital Poland Foundation, Poland
Viktor Shlinchak, Chair of the Supervisory Board, Institute of World Policy, Ukraine
Marian Olari, Executive Director, Independent Media House, Republic of Moldova
Jan Pilewski, Senior Public Affairs Manager, PLAY, Poland

The debate will be moderated by Dmitry Balkunets, Organizer of the Forum of Democratic Forces of Belarus
