The Enlargement of the European Union – the First or the Last stage of Integration?
This year's September edition of the Forum took place on the eve of accession of the major part of our region's countries in the European Union. The Forum participants reflected, among others, whether the EU enlargement is the first or the last stage of integration. Within more than 60 discussion panels, 5 plenary sessions and a dozen of promotional meetings about 1300 people from 35 countries took part. Among them were Aleksander Kwasniewski, President of Poland, Ion Iliescu, President of Romania, Boris Trajkovski, President of Macedonia, Stjepan Mesic, President of Croatia, Leszek Miller, Prime Minister of Poland, and Mikulás Dzurinda, Prime Minister of Slovakia.
Next Report of the Economic Forum New Europe. New Europe: Report on Transformation has been issued. It is a deep analyse of both political and economic situation in 27 countries of the region of Central and Eastern Europe.
During the Forum the awards have been handed in 5 categories. The man of the Year 2002 in Central and Eastern Europe was Mikulás Dzurinda and the Company of the Year was MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas Company.
