8th Europe-Ukraine Forum (2015)
Łódź 15-17 February 2015

Ukraine – a new beginning

In 2014 Ukraine opened a new page of its history. The country has confirmed its civilisational choice, defending its integrity and beginning the process of transformation into a modern European state. Ukraine has made the choice of strategies and partners that guarantee success in social and economic development, national security and relations with its neighbours, in line with the requirements of the 21st century.
Based on the experience of the past two decades, Ukraine redefines its statehood, citizenship and national identity. The country draws conclusions and defines its place in Europe and the world from not recoverable errors and losses difficult to redress from the period 1991-2014. This place depends primarily on Ukraine and its citizens, on the strong state and civil society devoted to it, on the quality of law and its enforcement, on reducing economic and social disparities between the regions and social groups. It also depends on the development of the modern economy, based on knowledge and technologies, and on rapid recovery from the devastation, based on the potential of the regions, indigenous entrepreneurship and international cooperation.

The debates that will take place during the 8th Europe-Ukraine Forum will concentrate on the key economic issues as modernization and economic potential development and natural resources consumption in Ukraine and its regions. The conference agenda is shaped in cooperation with the partners from Poland and other EU members. One of the leading themes of the reports, panel discussions and conference presentations will be the preparation process in the period of association agreement between Ukraine and the EU, energy security as well as economic reforms. The circumstances of creating a modern local authorities and creating the responsibility of the society for the state affairs will be also an issue to be discussed as well as the problem of international security of Ukraine in the current European and global affairs.
