The Launch of TV Visegrad Comes Closer

Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban has signed a decision which supports the establishment of a joint, English-language Visegrad Channel.

An idea to create a joint television of the Visegrad Group has been presented by the Chairman of the Polish Public TV, Jacek Kurski on 6th September during the 26th Economic Forum in Krynica. In a much unexpected manner, Jacek Kurski has handed the folder with the project to the speakers of one of the plenary sessions – the Prime Ministers of Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and Ukraine.

The new V4 Channel would aim to promote culture, nature and points of view of the V4 Countries.  We have France 24 and Al Jazeera, it is the high time to establish TV Visegrad, underlined Jacek Kurski and asked all Prime Ministers to share their opinions about this project.

Prime Minister Orban and Szydło seemed to be very optimistic about TV Visegrad, more skeptical opinions were presented by Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. Considering the tough competition on the media market, this idea is pretty challenging, but worth considering.
