The Climate Policy and Security

For decades, the needs of national security have shaped the domestic and foreign policies of many countries. To a large extent, this is also the case today. However, widespread concerns about the climate condition have created such a strong climate policy that it becomes a powerful regulator of domestic and international policy. How important are climate change and global climate policy to our security?

This will be discussed in Karpacz at the XXX Economic Forum. Among the invited speakers are: Laura Birkman – head of the Climate and Security Program, The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, Tom Middendorp, The Netherlands Chief of Defense (2012 – 2017), chairman of the International Military Council on Climate and Security, Eduard Proshchuk, deputy of the Supreme Council, Ukraine, prof. Zbigniew Karaczun – Climate Coalition, Poland, Robert Dresen – advisor in the NATO Secretary General Office. The dissussion will lead Katarzyna Pisarska, chairwomen of The Board of The Casimir Pulaski Foundation.

Ahead of the session, gen. Tom Middendorp and Laura Birkman will present “The World Climate and Security Report 2021” issued by the International Military Council on Climate and Security.
