Speaker of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland confirmed his honorary patronage of the Europe - Ukraine Forum

Marek Kuchciński confirmed his honorary patronage of the 11th edition of the Europe – Ukraine Forum.  The conference will take place from 13 to 14 March in Rzeszów.

The current Speaker of the Sejm (lower chamber of the Polish parliament) is a frequent visitor to our forums. He has been the initiator of holding a series of meetings in Krynica as part of the parliamentary conference “Europe of the Carpathians”, devoted to tightening the cooperation of the Carpathian region countries. It is a forum for discussion and setting directions for cooperation between the Carpathian countries, talks on the future of the European Union, security at the border between the EU and NATO or regional development. – We need to strengthen the importance of our region in European politics, strengthen the sovereignty of our states – said Marek Kuchciński during the 27th Economic Forum.

In the previous year, he also commented on Polish-German political relations in Krynica-Zdrój: “They have been solid during Angela Merkel administration. I would like this cooperation to constantly develop on the principle of equality. Poland can consider Germany as its equal partner.”

Marek Kuchciński was born in Przemyśl, Poland, in 1955. In the 1980s he organised the Community of Independent Culture. He also co-edited and published the “Strych Kulturalny” quarterly.  Kuchciński was incarcerated in 1985 for his opposition activities.  Four years later he co-founded Solidarity citizens’ committee in the Przemyśl region. From 1994 to 1999 he was a city councillor and consequently until 2001, he served as a Deputy Governor of Przemyśl.

From 2001 he is a member of the Law and Justice (PiS) political party and its MP. From 2010 to 2015 he was a Deputy Marshall of the Polish Sejm during the 6th and 7th term. He became the Marshall of the Polish Sejm for its 8th term.
