Discussing diplomacy at the 10th Europe-Ukraine Forum

The discussion panel „The Global “Game on Ukraine” Goes On. Back to Diplomacy?” will take place on 28th January as part of the International Politics thematic track. The annexation of Crimea and the invasion of eastern Ukraine violated territorial integrity of Ukraine and other basic principles of international law. However, the West, Russia and Ukraine are trying to continue a political dialogue to look for opportunities to reduce tensions. Is it possible in the present circumstances to restore trust in international relations? What are the limits of such dialogue? Is it possible for the powers to achieve an agreement behind the back of the Ukrainian nation?

Those hard questions will be addressed by experts in international diplomacy, representatives of the world of politics, science and the media: Maria Josefa Perez del Pozo, Professor at the University Complutense in Madrid, Spain; Kostiantyn Matviienko, Expert of the Ukrainian Strategic Consulting Corporation ‘Gardarica’; Boris Reitschuster, a German Journalist and Author of reports on the Ex-Soviet countries; Jonathan Eyal, Associate Director for Strategic Research Partnerships at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI), United Kingdom; Igor Korotchenko, Editor-in-Chief of the National Defense Publishing House Ltd in Russia; and Borys Tarasyuk, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Supreme Council of Ukraine.

The discussion will be moderated by Roman Imielski from the Gazeta Wyborcza daily. Nikolajs Kabanovs, a former Latvian parliamentarian, will provide closing remarks.
