“Challenges of the Post-Covid Era” – plenary session during the XXX Economic Forum in Karpacz

The world after pandemic has changed in many ways. The challenges of the post-covid era were discussed by the participants of the plenary session during the XXX Economic Forum in Karpacz.

The second day of the XXX Economic Forum in Karpacz was inaugurated with the plenary session of the “Challenges of the post-covid era” plenary session. It was attended by: Liberia’s Vice President, Jewel Howard-Taylor; Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, Piotr Gliński; former Prime Minister of Ukraine, chairman of the “Ukrainian Strategy” party, Volodymyr Groysman; President of the Assembly of European Regions, Magnus Berntsson and the President of the Management Board of Żabka Polska Sp. z o.o., Tomasz Suchański. The moderator of the debate was  Michał Karnowski – member of the board of Fratria Sp. z o.o.

“All of us have been affected by the pandemic, every nation has to face the same issues,” said Jewel Howard-Taylor. However, the vice president of Liberia indicated that for African countries many of these challenges were present even before the pandemic. Howard-Taylor also spoke about the importance of paying attention to the situation of women in recent months.

During the debate, Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński spoke about various challenges that are not directly related to the coronavirus, but will be of great importance in the near future. The minister said e.g. about the need for leadership, the crisis of global culture and the new conflict of generations. He also referred to the role of the state and the family in coping with these challenges. – The lesson learned from the pandemic should be to focus more on the state and the family.

– I do not see anything positive in the effects of the pandemic – said the former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Volodymyr Grojsman – The pandemic showed us all our weaknesses, revealed a high level of selfishness.

– Recent months have brought important challenges for our regions, first of all they widened social and economic inequalities between the regions – said Magnus Berntsson. The President of the Assembly of European Regions drew attention to the fact that the pandemic significantly accelerated the digitalization of our economies. Berntsson also stated that the greatest challenge of the post-covid era is the climate crisis.

Tomasz Suchański introduced the business perspective to the debate. – The pandemic has changed many consumer behaviors and the way companies work. It is a great chance for us, but also a great responsibility. – said President of Żabka Sp. z o.o. He also drew attention to the uncertainty of the current situation: – We do not know how long this crisis will last. Therefore, instead of plans, we have to build scenarios, different scenarios.
