Saulius Skvernelis – Man of the Year od 28th Economic Forum in Krynica

Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis became Man of the Year 2017 in Krynica during the XXVII Economic Forum. The award was granted by the votes of the Chapter of the Program Board of the Economic Forum.

Saulius Skvernelis defeated Janina Ochojska, Jacek Majchrowski, Robert Biedroń, Adam Bodnar and Grzegorz Kołodko in the vote.

Saulius Skvernelis became head of the Lithuanian government in 2016. Before that, he was in charge of the Ministry of the Interior. According to Election, it is a member of the center-right party of the Lithuanian Association of Farmers and Greens. He is a great advocate of good Polish-Lithuanian relations, which he emphasized during his speech after receiving the prize. Great merits for the development of Poland and Lithuania were also underlined by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, who put a special emphasis on excellent cooperation with Orlen Lietuva and Lithuanian railways.

In addition to the Man of the Year award, statuettes were presented in three other categories. The Polish Development Fund (PFR) became the company of 2017. The best non-governmental organization was the Polish Humanitarian Organization (PAH). Finally, the award in the category “Stanislaw Vincenz New Culture, New Europe Award” was given to maestro Krzysztof Penderecki.

The gala of giving awards was given by the presenters of Polish Television – Danuta Dunin-Holecka and Krzysztof Ziemiec. In the musical part, the Border Guard Representative Orchestra under the baton of Major Leszek Mieczkowski presented itself.
