- Support for the local government deriving from European funds should remain at approx. Same level after 2013 – said Minister Elżbieta Bieńkowska during the opening panel ‘Local Self-Governments in the European Union’s Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020’, held on September 7, 2011 during 5th Forum of Regions in Muszyna. 

- Support for the local government deriving from European funds should remain at approx. Same level after 2013 – said Minister Elżbieta Bieńkowska during the opening panel ‘Local Self-Governments in the European Union’s Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020’, held on September 7, 2011 during 5th Forum of Regions in Muszyna. 

Bieńkowska outlined that the coherence policy is at the same time development Policy for all EU regions. Even richer parts hale problems, that may be solved with the suport of European structural funds. – It is a ready tool, that, when well-used, stimulates economy, especially in time of crisis.

- As for now, the regions operate EUR 16.5 billion, which is a quarter from EUR 68 billion available for Poland. Regions should already now start preparing new programs, so that their negotiations with the European Commission pass efficiently – advised the head of regional development ministry.

Other speakers in the debate were: Mercedes Besso, President of the Committee of the Regions, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, President of Warsaw and Christine Lieberknecht, Minister-President of Thuringia, Germany.

Forum of Regions means:

The most important meeting of the representatives of regional authorities from the European countries with representatives of public administration and the European Union.

♦ Meeting place for local self-government activists with business, local self-government and non-governmental organizations, representatives of ministries and government agencies.

♦ Integral event of the Economic Forum, which over time has become the biggest and one of the most prestigious events in the European scale (2300 guests from 60 countries worldwide, 140 panels and special events divided into 12 subject areas).

♦ Forum is the appropriate place for regional promotion, which can target the management of 500 companies from many industries.

The Regions Forum is meant to be a privileged opportunity for the representatives of Polish and European local self-governments to reflect on how to enhance effectiveness of using the EU structural funds. At the same time, the Forum will allow for the sharing of experiences and networking. Local self-governments' activists from Poland and neighbouring countries will hold discussions with the Polish state authorities and European Commission officials.

Participants: The Forum will be participated by over 250 individuals who will also take part in the selected events within the scope of the Economic Forum in Krynica.

The main partner of the Forum of the Regions is the Małopolska Voivodship
